Japanese Knotweed Liverpool is a local knotweed team working across Liverpool and Merseyside. We survey suspected Japanese knotweed, write management plans, and carry out herbicide treatment, excavation and root barrier work for homes and sites. Our aim is to give you clear, practical advice about what you have and what makes sense to do next.
What we do
Most of our work starts with a question: is this knotweed, and how much of a problem is it? We answer that with a site survey, mapping the stand and recording its distance to buildings and boundaries. From there we write a plan that suits the site, which might mean herbicide treatment over several growing seasons, excavation where the ground has to be cleared, a root barrier to protect a building or boundary, or monitoring. We also advise on other invasive plants such as Himalayan balsam and giant hogweed.
Who we work for
We work for homeowners who have spotted something worrying in the garden, buyers and sellers whose transaction has stalled over a knotweed question, landlords who need to deal with it at a rental property, and developers and site managers who need ground cleared before work can start. Each of these needs something slightly different. A homeowner may simply want to know whether to worry. A seller usually needs a management plan and treatment records. A developer usually needs a method that fits a programme.

How our jobs run
We start by asking for photos and where the plant is, and whether a sale or mortgage is involved. If a visit is needed, we survey the site and then give you a written report, a plan with your options and a written quote. Once you decide to go ahead, we carry out the work and keep a record of every treatment and visit, so you have a clear history to show a buyer, lender or neighbour.
Depending on location and the work needed, the job may be carried out by one of the independent local specialists we work with; we will always tell you who is coming.
Honest advice
Plenty of plants are mistaken for knotweed, including bindweed, Russian vine, dogwood and bamboo. If what you have is not knotweed, we will tell you, and you will not be sold work you do not need. Our identification guide is a good place to start if you want to check for yourself first.
We will also be straight about what we cannot do. We cannot promise what a lender, buyer or insurer will decide, and we will not tell you knotweed is gone for good after one visit, because regrowth can happen and monitoring matters. If your situation is really a legal question, such as a boundary dispute, we will suggest you speak to a solicitor.
